Cookie policy
What cookies and similar technology Quantum uses, and why. The short version: one essential sign-in cookie in the trial, and none on this website. Last updated 18 October 2026.
1. What cookies are
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep. Cookies are used to remember you between pages, for example to keep you signed in. Similar technology, such as browser storage, does the same job.
2. The cookies we use
We use one cookie, and only in the Quantum trial (the pages under quantum.qsm.co.za/try):
- Name: qs_sid
- Purpose: keeps you signed in to your trial account. Without it you would have to log in on every page.
- Type: first-party, strictly necessary.
- How long: up to 14 days, or until you sign out. Signing out removes it straight away.
- Protection: marked HttpOnly (scripts cannot read it), Secure (sent only over HTTPS) and SameSite (not sent from other websites), and only sent to the trial, not to the rest of this site.
Because this cookie is essential to the service you asked for, we do not ask for consent to set it. It is created only when you create an account or sign in.
3. This marketing website
The pages on quantum.qsm.co.za outside the trial set no cookies. They load no advertising, social media or third-party analytics tags, and our fonts are served from our own site.
4. How we count visits without cookies
To see how many people visit and which buttons they click, we use a small script of our own. It does not use a cookie and does not store your IP address. It works out one anonymous code per visitor per day, so a person is counted once a day and cannot be followed from one day to the next. It does nothing at all if your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. The Privacy Policy explains what is recorded and for how long.
5. Other browser storage
- The trial keeps your business data on our servers. It does not store it in your browser’s local storage.
- The internal Quantum staff console keeps a sign-in key in your browser’s session storage for the length of the visit. It is for QSM staff only and does not appear for visitors.
6. Your choices
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block or delete the qs_sid cookie you will be signed out of the trial and will not be able to stay signed in until you allow it again. Your data is not lost: sign in again to see it.
7. Changes
If we ever add another cookie, such as for analytics or marketing, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before it is set. Questions can go to sales@qsm.co.za.
